Mateusz Janur is the FEN middleweight champion!

Mateusz Janur – new FEN middleweight champion! Full breakdown of his win over Tomasz Ostrowski at FEN 60

On November 8th, 2025, the Hala Relax arena in Piotrków Trybunalski became the center of the Polish MMA world. At the jubilee event FEN 60: Ostrowski vs Janur, our brand ambassador Mateusz Janur stepped into the cage to face the reigning middleweight champion Tomasz Ostrowski. The main event was a title unification bout – interim champ versus regular champ, with the undisputed FEN middleweight title on the line.

The night ended in the best possible way for us and for everyone cheering for Mateusz – Janur submitted Ostrowski with a guillotine choke in round two, becoming the undisputed FEN middleweight champion.

This article is more than just a quick recap. It’s a detailed story about Mateusz’s road to the belt, the fight itself, the styles of both athletes and what this victory means – also for us at Środowisko Miejskie.

FEN 60 – a milestone event for Fight Exclusive Night

FEN 60 was special for several reasons:

  • it marked the 60th show in FEN history,

  • took place in Hala Relax in Piotrków Trybunalski, a venue well known to Polish sports fans,

  • the headliner was a champion vs champion clash – interim titleholder Mateusz Janur vs regular champion Tomasz Ostrowski,

  • the event aired on Canal+ and delivered multiple finishes before the final bell.

From the first fights on the card it was clear this was going to be a high-energy, high-stakes evening – and everything peaked in the main event, when our ambassador walked out for the biggest fight of his career.

Who is Mateusz Janur? Our ambassador on a mission

From Lubin to the top of the middleweight division

Mateusz Janur is an athlete who earned everything the hard way. Born in 1991, he has been competing in professional MMA for years. After FEN 60 his record stands at 11 wins and 6 losses.

According to Tapology and other MMA databases, Mateusz:

  • fights at middleweight (185 lbs / 83.9 kg),

  • is around 180 cm tall,

  • represents the team Armia Polkowice,

  • ranks among the notable middleweights in Poland and Eastern Europe.

He appeared on the radar of a wider audience thanks to his fights in organizations such as KSW and FEN, but hardcore fans know him from earlier regional shows where he learned his trade facing veterans and top prospects.

Fighting style – pressure, power and the guillotine

If we had to sum up Mateusz’s style in a few points, it would be:

  • forward pressure,

  • dangerous hands,

  • a finishing mindset,

  • and a high-level guillotine choke.

Janur enjoys exchanging in the pocket – he’s comfortable in boxing ranges and has the power to change the fight with one clean punch. His record features multiple KO/TKO wins, including a third-round knockout of Aleksey Shanin at FEN 51.

At the same time, he is far from one-dimensional. His grappling is strong enough to threaten anyone, which he proved in spectacular fashion at FEN 59, where he submitted Michał Pietrzak with a guillotine choke in the first round to capture the interim FEN middleweight belt.

After FEN 60, Mateusz openly said that the guillotine was a key part of the game plan for Ostrowski – and that’s exactly how the fight ended.

Janur & Środowisko Miejskie – a natural connection

Why does Mateusz fit Środowisko Miejskie so well?

  • he comes from a city that breathes sport,

  • he balances everyday life, work and hard training,

  • he’s authentic – no fake persona, just real grind,

  • he lives and wears urban sports style that reflects the DNA of our brand.

He’s the kind of fighter who can wear our hoodie or T-shirt on the street, to the gym and into the spotlight. This is exactly why he’s part of our ambassador family.

Tomasz Ostrowski – the champion to beat

Building the FEN middleweight throne

Before FEN 60, Tomasz Ostrowski was the official FEN middleweight champion with a professional record of 5–1, which became 5–2 after losing to Mateusz.

He captured the vacant belt at FEN 56 in Wrocław, where he defeated Łukasz Stanek via TKO in round three.

Previously, fans had seen him:

  • stopping Artur Niebrzydowski by TKO at FEN 51,

  • earning highlight-reel finishes on FEN cards,

  • consistently moving forward and pushing the pace.

Style – pressure fighter with real finishing power

Ostrowski is a pressure fighter. His traits include:

  • aggressive striking,

  • meaningful shots rather than volume for its own sake,

  • a killer instinct when he senses his opponent is hurt,

  • good conditioning that allows him to carry danger into later rounds.

For Mateusz, this meant he wasn’t just facing a champion on paper – he was facing a legit, battle-tested titleholder.

How the fight played out – round by round

Round 1 – feeling out, then momentum shift

From the opening bell, the respect between the two was evident. The first minutes were all about:

  • measuring distance,

  • single shots rather than long combinations,

  • tactical patience from both men.

Gradually, Mateusz began to seize control:

  • he held the center of the cage,

  • landed the cleaner strikes,

  • dictated where and when the exchanges happened.

A key moment came when Janur landed a big left hook, forcing Ostrowski to back away. The referee briefly stopped the action so Tomasz could adjust his mouthguard – a small but telling sign of how hard the punch landed.

After the restart, Mateusz took the fight down from the clinch and finished the round on top, chipping away with punches and leg kicks to a grounded Ostrowski.

All three judges scored the first five minutes 10–9 for Janur.

Round 2 – chaos, a foul and the signature guillotine

Round two kicked off with a sharp tactical exchange. Ostrowski threw a high kick to the head, but Mateusz timed it perfectly, shooting in and taking him down. On the ground, Janur landed several strikes – and then came the controversial moment.

As Tomasz was trying to get back up, Mateusz connected with an illegal knee to the head. The referee intervened immediately, gave Ostrowski time to recover and restarted the fight on the feet.

From there:

  • Mateusz went forward aggressively,

  • Ostrowski fired back with kicks and tried to keep distance,

  • in the clinch, Tomasz landed a knee to the head,

  • then, perhaps feeling the pressure, he shot for a desperate, poorly prepared takedown.

That was exactly the opening Mateusz had been waiting for. As Ostrowski changed levels, Janur wrapped up his trademark guillotine choke.

The champion tried to pass and escape, but Mateusz kept adjusting the grip until the tap came. The referee stepped in at 2:23 of round two, and just like that, our ambassador became the new undisputed FEN middleweight middleweight champion.

Mateusz’s own view – a “dream finish” without hurting a friend

After the fight, Mateusz openly described the finish as a “dream ending”. He emphasized that the guillotine was part of a long-planned strategy – he and his coaches expected Tomasz to eventually shoot for a takedown under pressure, which would open the door for the choke.

In post-fight interviews he also said that:

  • he and Ostrowski have a friendly relationship,

  • he’s happy the bout ended in a submission rather than a brutal knockout,

  • it allowed both of them to leave the cage without serious damage and “go back to the mats together” soon.

The belt also has a deep personal meaning to Mateusz – one of the titles is destined for his father, who has supported him in sports since childhood.

What this win means for Mateusz Janur’s career

The FEN 60 victory means:

  • Mateusz is now the full FEN middleweight champion,

  • he extended his winning streak to five fights in a row, including back-to-back title wins by guillotine choke at FEN 59 and FEN 60,

  • his profile in Poland and across Europe has risen significantly,

  • future opportunities in bigger international promotions may open up.

For Polish MMA fans, Janur’s run is a clear sign that we have a middleweight capable of making serious waves beyond the local scene.

What it means for Środowisko Miejskie

For Środowisko Miejskie, this is more than just a result. Mateusz is part of our family, and his success shows that:

  • urban lifestyle and elite sport can coexist,

  • an ambassador can be more than a face on a poster – he can be a real story of discipline, loyalty and grind,

  • the energy of people from the streets, from local gyms and neighborhoods can carry someone all the way to a championship.

Every time Mateusz walks into the cage wearing our gear, a part of our community’s story steps in there with him.
